*This Race is part of Big Don's Outlaw Doorslammer Spring Nationals, held April 30th - May 2nd, at Dallas Raceway (aka The Concrete Palace!).  The Outlaw Aircooled Racers Group will be featured on Sunday only, but don't let that stop you from coming out all 3 days!  If you are any kind of drag racing fan, you need to make plans to come to this event! With 6 classes to choose from we have something for everyone: Over 50 Outlaw Pro Mods, The who’s who of Outlaw 10.5, Outlaw Backhalf racing and Grudge racers from over 7 states!!! From 3-second Outlaw Pro Mods on down to 6-second VWs, this is the event of the year!! In addition to the Drag Racing there is also a Concert on Friday Night and a Car Show on Saturday. Update 3-24-10: The 2 VW classes will run 1/4 Mile, so come prepared to show these V8 Boyz We Ain't Scared to Run it Out the Back Door!!

Update 4-29-10: Gates open at 9am Sunday, the 2nd. Unlimited Street will leave for mandatory cruise at 10am. Mandatory driver's meeting at 11:30am. 1st round of Qualifying is at 12-noon, with 2nd and 3rd round of Qualifying following at 1 and 2pm. 1st Round of Eliminations starts at 3pm. Awards and presentation to follow the running of the King of the Outlaws race.

OUTLAW VW

A true Run What You Brung Class! Whether it's Turbo, Nitrous, Normally Aspirated, or a combination, this class is all-inclusive!  From Tube-Chassis, to Stock Pan, JUST BRING IT!!!

 

RULES (No More, No Less):

  • 4 Cylinder, Aircooled, Rear-Engine, Rear Wheel Drive ONLY.

  • NO Dragsters, Altereds, or Trikes. Manx-style or Dune Buggies OK.

  • ALL Cars must meet NHRA/IHRA Safety Guidelines for ET/Speed of Car

RACING PROCEDURES:

  • 3 Rounds of Qualifying

  • All-Run Field

  • Heads-Up, Pro Tree

  • Sportsman Ladder

  • No Dial-Ins, No Break-Outs; 1st to the Stripe Wins!

  • No Buy Backs

PAYOUTS*

UNLIMITED STREET

A Street Legal Class? Well, its on the Street Ain't It?!?!

A Street-Car class in its purest racing form, these street cars prove their street-worthiness before qualifying by completing a 20-mile cruise.  If you survive the cruise, you have to make it through 3 rounds of qualifying.  Once qualifying is complete, racers race Heads Up against one another to determine who has The Fastest Street VW!

 

RULES (No More; No Less):

  • Proof of Registration and Insurance Required

  • Any four cylinder, air cooled, rear-engine VW-powered vehicle allowed

  • Minimum vehicle weight (with driver) 1700 lbs

  • Must have two front seats (NO Baby Seats!)

  • Must have functioning headlights & tail lights

  • No Wheelie Bars allowed

  • ALL Cars must meet NHRA/IHRA Safety Guidelines for ET/Speed of Car

  • Muffler required on ALL vehicles

  • Vehicles must complete an approximate 20 mile Street Cruise prior to Event

  • Recommend (but not required) decals and stickers on quarter and rear windows, not on body of vehicle

  • No tow vehicles allowed (Vehicle must drive to the Starting Line and return to the Pits under its own power)

  • Cars must remain in condition as cruised in, with the exception of tire change (i.e. street tires to slicks)

RACING PROCEDURES:

This is a Winner-Take-All, one pass competition where the winner of Outlaw will take on the Winner of Unlimited Street! To make things fair, there will be a staggered start (still Pro Tree!), with the delay being the difference between the Outlaw Winner's best e.t. (during qualifying and elims) and Unlimited Street Winner's best e.t.!

For example, if the Unlimited Street Winner's best e.t. is 10.45, and the Outlaw Winner's best e.t. is 9.67, the staggered start will be .78 sec, with the US car getting the head start.
